Atlantic Beach Weather
is mild year round, giving it the name of “golf capital of the world.” The Gulf stream with its moderating breezes keep the average annual temperature at about 63 degrees with an average of about 79 in June and 45 in January. The climate also allows for boating, fishing and sailing any month of the year. During the summer months, the ocean water is about 20 degrees F. warmer along the southern North Carolina coast than the ocean water along New York beaches. Temperatures along the southern coast are usually cooler than inland areas during the summer due to the ocean breezes. The beaches of Atlantic Beach in Carteret County face south, rather than east. Therefore visitors can watch both the sunrise and the sunset on the ocean, and the north wind calms the sea close to the beaches.
